VISIT OUR MODERN AND RELAXING DENTAL CENTRE

At Healthy Smiles, we aim to deliver the best dentistry has to offer, with a wide variety of dental services ranging from the latest cosmetic procedures to general restorative care. Services offered are;

  • Emergency Care

We are committed to our patients. We endeavour to see all dental emergencies on the same day and urgent appointments are scheduled for treatment as soon as possible. We allow enough time every working day for emergencies and we try and fit you in as soon as possible to relieve your pain or discomfort.

  • Comprehensive checkups, cleans and prevention treatments

The Australian Dental Association recommends a six-monthly dental check-up and clean for good oral health. We send timely reminders through SMS, E-Mail or regular post outs. We do a full comprehensive check-up which includes checking for oral cancer, salivary issues, changes in oral mucosa, temperomandibular joint movements and a range of other things in addition to teeth and gums. To help patients feel at ease we use the wand.

  • Implants

Implants are becoming very popular as this is the best way to replace a lost tooth. It feels like your own tooth as the metal screws that are placed in your jaw get Osseo integrated to make it the most natural choice. The specialist does the first stage of the procedure followed by the dentist.

  • Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is done when there is a root infection, and rather than pulling the tooth the nerve is removed and all the bacteria are removed and the root is sealed. In most cases Dr Jacob completes root Canal treatments in a single session making multiple visits to the surgery unnecessary.

  • Crown and Bridge

Crowns and bridges are used to protect teeth that are made vulnerable by various processes including past injuries, long term clenching and grinding, Root Canal Treatment etc. A crown is then placed on the tooth to protect it. If it is a front tooth then a porcelain or zirconia crown is placed on top of the shaped tooth. Our Crown and bridge technician is local, and highly experienced.

  • Partial Denture

Partial dentures can be an answer when you have already extracted a tooth but need to replace it with a tooth added to a plate that fits snugly into your mouth. Our technician is local, highly experienced, and prompt in service and the quality of work is excellent.

  • Composite-White Bonded Fillings

For front teeth and where aesthetics are concerned, white fillings are the most appropriate answer.

  • Silver Amalgam Fillings

For teeth that are not visible, taking the bulk of chewing etc silver amalgam fillings are the most appropriate. However, if patients want composite tooth coloured fillings we have the appropriate material to do that for you.

  • Scale and Clean

While regular brushing of teeth at home is important, it is imperative for you to get them professionally checked and cleaned every six months by a dentist and that will ensure that you are on top of any changes that are happening to your teeth and your mouth, and you will have better oral health and hygiene. A build-up of plaque can do a lot of damage to your teeth. To make patients feel at ease we use the wand.

  • Extractions (Oral Surgery)

While being conservative and trying to keep your teeth is the best option, there are times when extractions are necessary. Dr Jacob, the principal dentist @ Healthy Smiles @ Mt Eliza also does extractions as part of Orthodontic treatment or implants when it is required.

For patients who need to get extractions done under general anaesthesia we can send your x-rays and notes and refer you to a specialist who can do the procedure at a local hospital with appropriate facilities.

  • Smile Enhancement

Our dentist Dr Jacob @ Healthy Smiles @ Mt Eliza does smile enhancement as part of dental treatment.

If you are unhappy with the way your teeth look, why not come in and have a chat with Dr Jacob to explore the options you may not have considered before.

  • Veneers

Veneers are a cosmetic dental restoration.

Veneers are used to treat teeth that are fractured or discoloured, and create a "Hollywood" type of makeover. Some people have small teeth resulting in spaces that may not be easily closed by orthodontics. Worn away edges of teeth can be corrected. Veneers can provide a uniform colour, shape, and symmetry, and make the teeth appear straight. In many cases, minimal to no tooth preparation is needed when using composite veneers.

  • Night Guards/Splints

Many people are found to be grinding or clenching and most of it happens subconsciously while you are asleep. Grinding and clenching the teeth will not only affect your occlusion etc. but may be the cause of headaches neck aches and sleepless nights or restless nights. This can be corrected by wearing a soft, medium or hard splint at night, depending on which is appropriate for you. We make the splints in-house and in most cases the splint is ready for collection the following day.

We then review your night guard when you book in for your regular six-monthly check-up and clean appointment.
When grinding and clenching is untreated it could lead to loss of tooth structure, cracks in tooth leading to bacteria infecting the roots and the loss of tooth after much discomfort or pain.

  • Mouth Guards

While a sport injury might not be avoided your teeth will have better protection when you wear an appropriate mouth guard.

Double laminated mouth guards offer better protection in sports such as Boxing, Footy and other contact sport. We make in-house, double laminated mouth guards/splints.

  • Teeth Whitening

Many people whiten their teeth for various reasons including special occasions.

There is a lot of misinformation about teeth whitening where people use bicarbonate soda etc and eventually ruin their teeth. Long term effect of inappropriate teeth whitening could be expensive and literally put your teeth at edge! Sensitive teeth can affect your nutrition intake and affect your overall health.

At Healthy Smiles @ Mt Eliza we use the best whitening agents that are suitable for you after doing a comprehensive dental check-up. Not everyone’s teeth are the same and some people need more care like remineralising the teeth before doing the whitening. In certain cases Whitening is not suitable if the teeth are in poor condition. Dr Jacob will assess your teeth and recommend the most appropriate action as far as teeth whitening is concerned.

  • Specialist Referrals

We are able to do referrals to dental specialists such as Orthodontists, Oral Surgeons, Periodontists, Prosthodontists, Endodontists, Paedodontists and Oral Pathologists for cases that need specialist intervention.

We have a list of very capable and highly qualified specialists who can coordinate their specialist care with your regular dental visits with us.
